OK - it is not terrible, but it is to structured so far....
The combat is SLOW, but not in a really bad way... the ground work is weak, but the ship fighting is interesting all be it basic.
Then again, I am very low level and still in the initial ship.
I am going to play tonight for a few hours and see what is up. Picking your crew mates is dynamic.

try this... I just used this to get past the opening screen (hoping that does not expend the code) - if it does, no big deal, I get one every morning.

That worked for me (I tried the 2nd key). I got the cryptic account setup and activated, just downloading the client. Another 2 hours then I'll be able to join in probably.
Screen name: Luyce
I used FILESHACK for downloading (6 GB) client. It's fast.

I find the game to structured. You have to do missions, you can't just go out and farm something.
There is no sense of community (which was a death-blow to WAR). There is no economy to speak of. It just feels like I am playing by myself while others are around.
I do enjoy how the space combat works with shield zones, but that is about it.
Also, with no negative effect of dying, I don't see the need for using healing packs, etc....
Just a bit hollow for me - - There is no sandbox at all, that I have found at least.

I see what you're saying. I fear your observation is spot on as I've read a few posts on mmo forums that the game is a single player mmo. If this is the case later on, it's definitely a deal breaker.
Not sure what level you have to be to make klingons or make guilds but that is one thing I want to do.
